Working to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship between herself and her clients, Charity uses an eclectic mix of therapeutic techniques. Chief among these techniques are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Charity uses these therapeutic styles in combination with her empathic personality and unconditional positive regard for clients to create a caring, focused and goal oriented atmosphere.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is considered amongst the most rapid in terms of obtainable results. Using CBT, Charity works with clients to effect how they feel by reassessing their thinking on subjects regardless of situational change. In simple terms, the way a client thinks effects how they feel and thus how they react to any given situation. Charity has success in utilizing this approach in working with issues including: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and PTSD.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is goal oriented, outcome focused and directed towards developing and achieving the client’s vision of solutions. Charity works with clients to help discern definable goals and previous success that can be incorporated into a current action plan for achievement. Charity effectively uses this approach with: business and leadership enhancement, couples and family therapy, parenting issues, and working with adolescents.

As a graduate of Southern Methodist University, Charity served as an officer in the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology while working with many of the University’s esteemed faculty members on various research projects. During her time at SMU, Charity worked within the learning therapy department as well as completed an internship with the Shelton School for children with learning disorders.

After graduation she used her skills in working with area domestic violence and sexual assault organizations as a community education and crisis counselor. During completion of her Masters in Arts in Professional Counseling from Amberton University, she devoted her time to Communities in Schools of Dallas and North Texas. While there, she counseled at-risk students and their families to increase success in areas of both personal and academic life.

Charity moved on to gain significant experience with a prestigious private psychotherapy practice in the Dallas area where she gained experience and training in CBT, SFBT and Psychodynamic application. During that time she effectively treated individuals, couples and families with a variety of issues and developed her specialty areas: anxiety/depression, family/parenting issues, self-image/confidence issues, and ethical leadership.
